Location: Remote (not from Russia or Belorus). Timezone GMT 0 - GMT+2 only. Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan won't move forward due to timezone shift. Russian or Ukrainian speaking required. About the role: This is a technical leadership role driving architecture and delivery of complex Ruby on Rails applications used by millions of active users worldwide. You'll combine hands‑on technical leadership with cross‑team project ownership: architecting scalable solutions, mentoring engineers, and shaping engineering standards across the org. What you'll do: - Lead the architecture, design, and development of Ruby on Rails applications - Plan and oversee large technical projects involving multiple engineering teams - Coordinate tasks and assignments within complex cross‑team projects - Drive technical direction, coding standards, and engineering best practices - Mentor and develop junior, intermediate, and senior engineers - Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Architecture teams on scalable solutions - Identify technical risks and drive resolution strategies - Evaluate new technologies and lead prototyping/research initiatives Requirements: - 7+ years of software development experience - 5+ years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails - Experience designing and scaling APIs, distributed systems, and web applications - Experience with MySQL or other relational databases - Experience with Git and modern CI/CD practices - Expert‑level development, debugging, testing, and analytical skills - 2+ years of experience planning and executing cross‑team technical projects - Solid written and spoken English (interview is conducted in English) Nice to have: - Experience with microservices and service‑oriented architectures - Experience integrating third‑party platforms and APIs - Expertise using generative AI tools to improve development, code quality, debugging, testing, and documentation - Leadership, team‑building, and mentoring experience Offer: - Stable job with a long‑established American company: many team members with 5+ years tenure - Significant ownership and responsibility for the systems you develop - Friendly, supportive team - Cutting‑edge, open‑source tech stack and large‑scale global applications Contract: IP (sole proprietor) only, incubator schemes not accepted.
